In February 1997, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Juba invited a team of consultants to look into the possibility of opening a School of Engineering in the University of Juba. The team submitted its report in September 1997 recommending the establishment of the School. The report was approved by the University Senate and the establishment of a School of Engineering was created.
School of Engineering of the University of Juba is the only accredited center in South Sudan that provide engineering education. SE was established in 1997, in Khartoum. In 2011, the college was finally moved to Juba.
At the moment, the college offers Bachelor of Science Honor in four departments.
